Paul Ashley is actually two guys: Paul Mellor and Ashley Franklin, both with established photography businesses of their own.  However, when Ashley asked Paul to help him out at his wedding shoots, they realised how well they worked together and decided to share their talents equally. The prospect of two expert photographers capturing the beauty of your special day at the same time gives a result that can never be achieved by one photographer alone.  After completing a number of very successful wedding assignments together, they decided to introduce a single brand for their wedding photography work and Paul Ashley Photography was born.

Paul has been taking photographs for as long as he can remember and, in 2008. he decided to extend this long-standing passion by setting up Photopiece Photography. The opportunity to photograph a large charity concert in Nottingham was all that was needed to get the ball rolling, and the success of that concert led to opportunities to expand his services into other concerts, black-tie events and portraiture. Significant investments in equipment followed, all geared towards giving better images and an even better service - a philosophy that shows no sign of slowing down.  Photopiece now specialises in portrait and event photography: charity concerts, parties, black-tie events as well as personal, group, commercial portraiture and charity events in the Derby and Nottingham area. Paul’s photographs have been internationally published in websites, press and magazines such as Derbyshire Life.

Ashley has been a passionate photographer for 30 years, turning pro in 2002.  Trading under Ashley Franklin Photography, he offers a wide spectrum of services, with commercial work a speciality, photographing everybody from royalty to rough sleepers and earning commissions from charities, care homes, special schools, clothes catalogue companies, solicitors, hotels, pubs, restaurants, butchers, bakers and, yes, even candlestick makers! He is also the official photographer of the Derby Cathedral & St Peter's Quarter and the Arkwright Society and is a chief photographer and writer for Derbyshire Life magazine.  Ashley has earned several photo awards, notably earning Associateship to the Royal Photographic Society and Landscape Photographer of the Year at the Society of Professional Imagemakers where he was also runner-up in the Family/Group Portrait Photographer of the Year.

'What we love about photographing weddings is being a storyteller and knowing that the images which capture all that love, joy, laughter and drama will live on as a beautiful memory of a special day.'
